HotS help guide
Why do HotS stats differ between MercStats and other sites?
Last updated 29 October 2026
Different replay samples produce different results
MercStats calculates replay statistics from the matches contributed to us. Other Heroes of the Storm sites may use another stats provider with more data than MercStats currently has. The same hero can therefore have different win rates across sites because the underlying matches differ.
A match uploaded elsewhere does not automatically reach MercStats. Our coverage grows as players contribute replays here, either through the website or through opt-in Companion uploads.
Compare the same selection of games
Before comparing two numbers, check what each page includes.
- Match the patch or game build. A recent balance update can make an older sample a poor comparison.
- Match the game mode. Storm League, Quick Match, and ARAM describe different groups of matches.
- Check region, season or date range, and rating filters where the page offers them.
- Read the game count alongside the percentage. A few games can produce a very different result from a much larger sample.
- Check the metric definition. Sites can calculate or group a statistic differently even when its label looks similar.
Why small samples move quickly
For example, six wins in ten games is a 60% win rate. One more loss changes it to about 54.5%. A percentage based on ten games should therefore be read with its sample size, especially when comparing heroes or talents that have only appeared a few times.
A missing result means we have no usable observations for that selection. It does not establish that a hero or talent is weak. Broaden the available filters or revisit the page as more replays arrive.
Help improve the coverage
Upload the completed replays from your own games. Each imported match contributes data for all its players, and duplicate detection keeps the same match from counting twice. More contributed matches give us more evidence for profiles, heroes, talents, and maps.
